Boone Creek Outdoors Community Litter Cleanup

10/21/2017 10:00 AM - 02:00 PM ET

Description

Register for a Community Litter Clean Up along the Kentucky River Palisades!

What: Boone Creek Outdoors  is one of Lexington's most exciting new ventures. Located along the Kentucky River Palisades, this outdoor adventure and recreational business offers visitors zipline canopy tours in one of Kentucky's most unique and beautiful geological formations. Bluegrass Greensource loves Boone Creek's approach to outdoor recreation because they put conservation, stewardship, and education at the very center of the visitor experience, so participants get to learn while having fun. However, because of Boone Creek’s proximity to I-75 and the resulting traffic, the property also experiences high volumes of litter.

When: 10/21/2017 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (If it rains, the make up date will take place on 10/22)

Where: Boone Creek Outdoors (8291 Old Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40515)

Who: Given the terrain, this clean up is limited to people aged 14 years and older. There will be two sections for the cleanup, one near the road that is less physically challenging, and one along some of the older trails, which will be more physically demanding. All participants must wear closed-toe shoes. It is also highly recommended that participants wear long pants and long sleeves.

Why: By volunteering for this clean up, you will get to experience a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind scenery, while also helping to beautify and protect this landscape, waterway, and wildlife from litter. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch, and for those interested and able, there will be short guided hike down to Boone Creek for lunch.

How: All interested participants are encouraged to register online (link below). Bluegrass Greensource will provide all materials needed for the cleanup, including safety vests, gloves, litter grabbers, and bags.
